Generic Electric Module(GEM) where to buy?
I have yet to confirm that my issues in the GEM with AE, but all of my symptoms and research is pointing towards it. Truck only acts up when its raining. Now its wanting to start on its own, things clicking, flickering, buzzing and heater working without the key.
I called our local dealership and they said the GEM was back ordered which I figured that was an easy out for them. Called my mechanic and he called surrounding dealers and came to the conclusion they are currently having issues with the supplier and the only one was in the Virgin Islands. If I am going to spend the money, I will break down and buy a new one instead of a junkyard find.
That being said, I there anyone here who has a resource for this part? Manaul T case, no keyless. I am going to attempt to pull it off tommorrow and dry it off, as well as get the part number being I am the 3rd owner and not sure if it ever had keyless.
thanks,
Josh

I would look and see if you can find a used one then get it reprogrammed for your truck. Good used parts aren't an issue and will save you a bundle. I have done it on one of my trucks and it was way easier than messing with the dealer.

Here's a potential source. I read some of their stuff and it seems like they know what they're doing with the GEMs. Don't know if they'll have one for your 2000 Model Year.

I took the GEM out tonight and there doesnt look to be any water damage internally, but there was some dampness where to two large connectors bolt to.
The truck started up just fine(becuse it must have dried out)
I am trying to figure out what GEM model this is. Can someone help me decode this?
thanks,
Josh

i will be replacing the windsheild as soon as its running again.
I pulled the GEM and fuse panel out monday, but before I pulled it, I started the truck and it ran just fine, and acted normal(probably because everything was dried out.
The only water damage i see is on the fuse box itself, where the two large connectors bolt to. I tried taking the cover off, but it seems like the two studs are holding it together? I no see a fair amount of green corrosion when I try prying it. Has anyone ran into the fuse panel being bad? At least these are in stock!
Is there a way to test either of these outside of the truck? If not, what about inside the truck?
