RockAuto Parts Catalog
If you want to shop around, just look for a heater control valve for a 00 and up excursion or any of the super duty trucks that came with a 6.0.

The closed units diaphragm is intergrated with the system so if there is a leak in the diaphragm you pull in coolant into you vacuum system with that one. Thats the reason for the price difference.

I went shopping on the internet before I read this post, I found the YG275 MOTORCRAFT at AMAZON for 7.95 with free shipping if you spent over $25 so I bought 2 and something else. Now I'm concerned that I could have a problem with coolant being sucked into the vacuum system should the valve fail. Any comments are welcome.

I dont know that I would be too concerned with the leak potential.
They have been used for sometime on vehicles. My only concern would be long tern degeneration of the VP with a leak. Material compatability issues. I have only seen one leak and it was on a Caddy.

I wouldn't be too worried. The Rangers and Excursions have been running this way for years, along with most folks who have done the cold AC mod. I don't remember every reading of one of them failing and filling the vacuum line with coolant.

I think I found the one I want. It installs in one hose and doesn't look to be able to leak coolant really anywhere a leaky hose couldn't. A parts interchange shows it to have been used since the 70s in a LOT of vehicles including E series 7.3L's.

Good find. Looks to be made oout of a different metal alloy than the higher dollar one, but that should not matter.

Installed Max A/C Mod from Dieselsite.com
I installed the Max A/C modification yesterday. It took maybe 20 minutes maximum. All I can say is that my F-150 had cold air before but now this thing is like an arctic blast. IMO it was well worth the price.

Which one was installed?

Stainless:
The one you ordered looks identical. It appears that I paid an extra $30 for 18 inches of hose, two hose clamps, and a T-valve. Boy, did I get hosed!
