The float is made from two pieces of copper soldered together. Solder breaks down, gas seeps in, float settles to the bottom of the tank.

Take the puppy off the sending unit's crooked arm and shake it. If you hear gas sloshing around, it's time for a new float.

COAZ-9202-B .. Fuel Sending Unit Float / Available from Ford.

Applications: ALL 1957/79 Passenger Cars/Trucks, 1961/79 Eonolines & 1966/79 Bronco's.

Probably not, but it may be available NOS. But which sender do you need, as there are dozens?

Mid-ship or aft axle tank, or in-cab tank? 2WD or 4WD? With/without Evaporative Emission? Styleside or Flareside? If Styleside, 1973/76 with exposed fuel caps or 1977/79 with fuel doors?

...That's ridiculous! JBG and most aftermarket makers list one sender for the midship tank, and one for the rear tank!

For mine, it would be the aft tank, 4wd. Styleside, 1977.5 w/ door. The truck has the evap tank with the rollover valve in the top, but the hose currently just runs up into the engine bay (haven't gotten the rest of the system sourced yet).

I'm surprised that they list different part numbers for the senders! I can see the midship/aft tank difference, along with in-cab. However, the fuel sender shouldn't have anything to do with the style of bed or whether or not the truck has doors - that's so weird!

There are three pages of fuel sending units listed in the 1973/79 light truck parts catalog (includes Econolines, but not Bronco's), get a copy of this puppy (from hipoparts.com on a CD) and take a look-see.

Lotsa luck, cuz there are no sequences, so you have to be eagle eyed to find the right application. I don't make this stuff, just look it up in the parts catalog and pass the info along.

Since there is no such thing as 1977.5 Ford terminology, which 1977 F250 4WD do you have? The High Boy assembled before serial number Y20,001 or the low boy assembled from serial number Y20,001?

Y20,001 occurred mid-model year 1977 (February), so this is where the term 1977.5 comes from. When I see this 1977.5 jazz, I cannot be sure if it's before/from Y20,001 and I would assume some peeps don't either.

I understand, and I believe every word. It's a "low boy" with a Y60,xxx serial number.
