American Living in Australia wants a Bronco

Hello all,

This is my first post here and I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Ken and my wife Lori and I sailed to Australia from San Diego. We are now living in Melbourne and decided that we would really like to import an old Bronco. We both love the 66-75 body style and you certainly can't find any here in OZ.

We've don't know much about the vintage Broncos other than we really like them and have always said that one day we will buy one. So, now is that time and we'd like to find one in the US and ship it here to Melbourne.

Can anyone provide or direct us to a place that we can learn the most about these years and decide which is the best to buy? If anyone has any suggestions, we are all ears!

Cheers,

Ken & Lori

Classicbroncos.com is the most active site for 66-77 EB's. You should be able to find one in California pretty easy. Check the classifieds on that site.

Hello and welcome to the site and forum.
Sounds like an expensive venture. One in which you would not B able to look at the purchase before buying. Not recommended, esp since the product is complicated and greatly varied one to the other. There are bronks in Oz. Try that 1st ("explorer" and "UTE"). Ford has been down under a very long time. I've met locals on 2 sites in Oz so use yer "google".

What is the vehicle application? Is there another better product for that use than a near 60 yr old vehicle (ie not reliable, comfortable or safe, no modern amenities, expensive on gas, etc, etc). Even a Bronco II might B a better choice for some - they are there as well. I'd suggest Land Rover and Toyota as about the same in price (to gettin a bronk 'right') but a better choice due to the "nots" listed...
BTW: 66-77 was that vehicle model 'run' (add 2 yrs).

Hit all the regular Bronco sites (links below) and then dig a little deeper and find you one, fly back to insp it and make the deal. Then conex it up and ship away.....with lots of insurance.

Hope you wallet is DEEP for this adventure and good luck, please keep us posted on that you get worked out on locating one.

You should definitely look into the right hand drive laws of Australia before importing a vehicle from the US. Australia has very strict auto laws, and I suspect that you may have to get whatever you import converted to right hand drive.

Unlike in the US, where there are no laws that specify where the steering wheel has to be.
