They might be easier to get to from under the truck with a long extension. That's how I do the driver's side. IIRC the pass. side bottom bolt is the worst one. Try different lenghth extensions and a swivel.

Will do. I wonder if I could find a box end that is a 6 point. All mine are 12 point Then I could bend it and what not. I have never seen one either that or haven't paid much attention in the past. Time to take the boy and make a run to the MAN store. ( as we call it ). Thanks for the advise. I will attack from underneath tomorrow. Ha ha

Well no luck still. The top one on the drivers side slipped even with a 6 point. So I think I am goin to go underneath and cut the bolt at the manifold with my dremmell. Those bolts are pretty rusted up too. All else fails cut it!!!!

When I go to install them back how do I make sure that the pipes are at the right angle when I tighten them to the y collector. I would assume throw a mark from the y collector all the way down to the pipe.

Ha ha ha. When u wiggle and pull enough the y collector comes right off. That was after I cut 2 bolts at the manifold. My one pipe looks all wrinkled????

Well it's time to make a decision??? How long do these pipes normally last. I am only at 118k miles. So if I get another set of for pipes am I looking at another 100k before they start leaking again?? I might just dig into my reserve funds and get the bellowed pipes, but mama ain't goin to like it!!! I know what y'all are goin to say "bellowed pipes!!". But I am mainly curious how long te new stock pipes last. Do the bellowed pipes have any type of benefits other than no leaks??

The bellowed pipes allow for flex instead of keeping all the stress on the gaskets. As far as how long they work, dunno, I've got 183k on my stock pipes and don't have a leak, maybe I'm just lucky, but then again my trans is on the way out so probably not.

Did you look at Bills DIY bellow set up? Much much cheaper if you can go his route.

Ya I have. One of my buddies does all the welding for me and he is super busy and doesn't have a lot of time. I don't have a lot of time either. Hoping to be getting a new job soon and moving. I will need the rig at tip top shape to haul all my crap!!
I never notices any leaks until after I put my DP tuner chip in. While I was installing the 1.0 housing, intercooler, and t-500 hpop I saw it!! Glad I found the leaks now rather than in the middle of the move and be stuck pulling hills at 25mph. Lol
185k that might be a record

Sounds like you've got a lot on your plate. I'm willing to bet you could get a welding shop to do what Bill did cheaper than buying bellows, but who knows.

Good luck!

^^^^^^^^^^x2 I bought mine on impluse because I was pissed off and not thinking straight. The thing is, if i go for a T4 mount and a S366 turbo to keep my EGTs down it will require different uppipes, oh well, live and learn!
