Why not? Is it due to size? Or are they all used to doing V8's and don't wanna do some research and a lil extra work? Sounds like pure laziness to me.

Search for Dodge Viper engine builders. I bet one of would be willing to balance your crankshaft since they are used to a 10 cylinder configuration.

I was always worried about this... The balance shaft is there to counteract the inherent imbalance in a V10 - the imbalance comes from all the pistons and rods not having a counterpart moving and accelerating/decelerating in an exactly opposite motion. That comes from a 72 degree separation between TDCs, but a 90 degree block.

If you mess around with piston or rod weights, I'm not sure there's a machinist in the world that can rebalance the whole thing.

The Dode V10 (viper or truck) is not a 72-degree separation. It's an "odd fire" setup, and doesn't use a split-pin crank like the Ford V10 does. Different animal, doesn't use a balance shaft, and probably much easier to balance.

Is there any chance those new rods weigh even CLOSE to the stockers?

A forged rod will never weight anywhere close to the stocker. Your talking forged metal versus compressed powdered metal.

Ford changed the crank to a split pin crank to prevent two cylinders from firing at the same time or "boxing" each other and putting counter acting forces on the crank.

Ford also removed the balance shaft in several prototype motors that didn't result in issue.

Im waiting on a phone ball back to see if I can have the crank balanced for you.(I will just give you their contact information)

I got the phone call back.

They dont have enough bob weights to do the balancing and they do V10-V12 motors.

They have almost enough but not enough weights to do it and they said they are not interested in buying more. Maybe if you bought the bob weights and shipped them with the crank for balancing but that would get expensive.

They do Lambo and other exotic engines so I was hoping they would do the V10 as well.

this is the only thing i'm waiting for to get the motor together. all i am trying to do is fix the weak point............rods. i'm only going to run 5-7lbs of boost. but i like to know it can handle more if i choose.

i have 92 honda prelude 2.3L non-vtec with 506 to the ground. everything is built on the motor. i can up to 700hp. if i wanted but i'm pretty reliable at 506hp.

PS: i don't like doing **** twice

The shop I was talking to rejected the idea.

So I will keep looking to see what I come up with.

Hell, I got Ron Francis to build a custom wire harness & computer. But no one to balance a crank. WTH

You dont need a custom wire harness & computer. There are several stock ECUs that with modification will run a V10 without a problem.

I am still working on the crank issue. I will make a few more phone calls on Tuesday to see what I come up with.
