2005 f350 knuckle seal
Does anyone have any information on installing the knuckle seal on a 2005 f350 4x4? There are tons of write ups on the up to 2004 trucks and then just about nothing from there onward. The older trucks are similar but different. You could make your own seal install tool for 2004 and older trucks but it looks as though you need the real $$ tool for 2005 and up. Has anyone done these?

Knuckle Seal
Thanks for the offer Chris, but I'm in Maryland, a little far away. What I did use was a 2" pipe mounting flange and a short piece of 2" pipe with a cap. A little trial and error and I figured out what was supposed to happen. I'm guessing its on correctly because I can draw vacuum and the 4wd engages. What I gater is the correct tool sets the correct depth but it seems to me that the lips on the inner and outter edge of the seal kind of limit that.
The reason for this job was because I was getting a lot of tire rebound/wobble from the passenger front tire when hitting the brakes. Strangly this did not happen all of the time, the tires did not lean and the tech who did an alignment did not notice anything out of the ordanary. With 230,000 original miles on these parts I decided something was worn and a replacement was necessary. What I found was that the ball joints were shot. Surprisingly when I put a jack under the knuckle with the wheel off I only got minimal deflection. But when I pulled the old ball joints they flopped around like a wet noodle. So anyone with a erratick wobble may want to check out the ball joins even if there is no obvious signs they are bad.
