Thermostat housing bolts

I'm in the middle of changing my water pump, and the three bolts that hold the thermostat housing to the water pump snapped off when I tried to take them out. Anyone know the thread size? It's the 3 bolts that connect the thermostat housing/neck to the water pump itself.
Thanks.

Stolen from Jose: The bolts are: flange bolts M6 1.0 pitch and 20 mm long.

I used allen heads on mine. I found them easier to install. Stainless is best.

I think it is a M5...... could be a M6 however...... I would have to go outside and measure one .... They are like 2 cm long with a 8 mm head similar to the fender bolts with a smaller washer IIRC

Please confirm.

I have this saved in my PC
IH part number for the bolts: 1817817C1 and they were .21 cents each, $2.71 out the door including Tax...( for 12 bolts)
the updated Ford part number is W300005
The correct bolts are metric M6 X 1.0 X 20mm long, grade 10.9.

^^^^^ Always the option of the IH water pump with the integrated filter mount.

Re. the 'stat housing, somewhere knocking around online is a kit with a hard steel "flange" that sits behind the regular housing flange, and a set of longer bolts. Supposed to make for a better seal (housing flange doesn't bend), and I suspect the bolts would come out better next time.

In the upper part of the firewall, near to the brake booster or in the inner fender drivers side below of the hinge

I got your point, maybe the other location I mentioned is better.

That's where the master cylinder goes. If you look on your truck with automatic, you'll see an oval plate with 2 bolts, that comes off and master goes there.

I hate those water neck bolts. I had one break on me a couple years back and I got some threaded rod and nuts. Cut short pieces and threaded them into the water pump as studs, and used the nuts with lock washers to faten the neck down. Never have to worry about stripping those bolt heads or breaking them off in the pump ever again.

You can take the jack out of its spot under the hood and put a filter there.
