having starting problem when hot 72 F150 W/360

I have a 72 F250 Camper Special with a 360with a 2 barrel carb. I have recently purchased it and am having problems starting it up when hot. I have timed and adjusted the carb to spec. I have been playing with the auto choke and it starts great when cold and runs great, but has trouble cranking when hot. Any help with this would be great.

I had an issue with my last 390, heat soak caused me fits and hard restart when hot and sat for a few minutes. It would perc the fuel out and be flooded. I tried different spacers and all kinds of tricks, finally installed a Holley 2 bbl., problem solved

FWIW, not a 72 F-150, no such model.

Thanks, that makes sense when I first bought it it had trouble starting cold and ran fine hot. The timing was way off and the idle mixture screws were all the way out and the choke adjustment was way off. Maybe carb rebuild? I would like to keep the origional.

I had a similar problem with my 65 Mustang. It would start fine when cold but had a difficult time when hot. 'Turned out the accelerator pump diaphram had a pinhole which caused the fuel to drain out of the bowl and down the intake and cause a flooded condition. Only after the fuel evaporated would it want to start hot again.

A $22 carb kit, gallon of solvent, and she was fine again. Yeah, I'd definitely do a carb rebuild to take the carb's'condition out of the equation. If it still happens, then I'd look into heat soaking/vapor lock issues.

Oh, I assume the fuel filter has been changed already...
