I have observed between 11 and 12 mpg with short local trips to work, etc over the 8-9 years I have owned the vehicle. Back in December, 2011, at 120,000 miles, I had the plugs changed and then observed the same mpg over the next few months or so. Last month I had a bad injector so they fixed that and told me there was a software update so they did that also. Since that was done I have been seeing a 1 to 2 mpg increase (13-14 mpg) and I am now curious what this software update did and when it actually was available. Anyone know how I could find this out?

I believe it gives a bit more timing advance.

 

Isn't it a bit odd for Ford to issue a software update on a almost 9 year old car? Or maybe it was available quite a while ago?

 

That would be my assumption too.

 

Hi,
Would software updates appear in a TSB? Or is there some other notification that FORD uses to notify dealers of the updates?
