I'm not 100% sure, but I'm thinking that this is what replaces the old three ring contact. It looks like it replaces the wiring harness and all. Like I said though, that's just me thinking, cause that's the only part # any of us can seem to come up with. I can't even find a pic of the old style.

Yeah, I don't blame you. I'd just keep searching junk yards. I'm looking for one for baker, I'll keep an eye out for another.

Since we're talking steering colums here. I have a question. My brother pulled on my steering wheel getting into the truck a few months back and ever since it has free play up and down. Also the steering wheel started to squeek, sounds like a spring of some sort. More importantly today it felt like the locking pin was engaging while I was driving. A few times I couldn't move the wheel and had to shift it up and down to get it to free...

Needless to say this needs to be addressed. My mechanic mentioned that it likely the bearings. (at least for the tilting steering wheel issue, he hasn't seen or heard the squeeking yet) He mentioned part numbers out of LMC catalog:

40-1376
40-3224
40-0745
40-0799

I want to get a second opinion and see if anyone else has had this happen, and if there are other parts I should replace while we're in there. Might be looking to change out my steering wheel and update that too. So you have some suggestions let me know.

Thank you!

Ya that sounds like the bearings are out. Dont drive it too long like that or you will have to replace the shaft too. Its looks like the part number in lmc is 450743 and 450744 for the bearings.

My buddy used to use his steering wheel in his truck for a handle to help get in and had to replace the bearings all the time for that reason. Also, on another note, i finally got the contact ring installed that i was able to get from Dark Star and notice that the top pick up pins was broke off. Does any one know what that pin does and if there is a difference in that harness between the years that is was produced (92-96), w/ or w/o tilt?
