I pulled my driver-side hub off to replace the brake backing plate. The passenger side went fine, but on this hub a springy o-ring is loose. Any ideas where it goes? It's doesn't seem too springy but I can't see any grooves it would ride in.

it goes inside the back of the seal lip, there is a groove there.

 

I was afraid of that Is there a way to get the seal out and put the spring o-ring back in from the inside?

The drive side of my e-brake was serviced a bit ago. If the service guy didn't put it back in all the way, would the seal leak a lot or a little when driving. Every thing on the back side, like the backside of the hub is thick with grime that wipes off easy but is a little moist under the layers of dirt and what not.
