Got a 1979 Ford Bronco

Well I just traded my 1990 Bronco (SAS, 300 I6, ZF5, 38 Super Swampers) for a 1979 Bronco (Dana 44-9 inch, 351M, C6, 33 Mud Trac tires).

It was a hard decision but I couldn't find any other 79 around here (most asking $6000 or Bronco body is about gone). So I bit the bullet.

This Bronco surprised me when I open the hood and saw the AC compressor and other components there. Driveside valve cover gasket is leaking but guy bought one and it is sitting in back seat.
Most of the tires are fair (one is about new on the front, one on the rear is nearly bald). Heater works good on the floor (think the vents need to be checked- had the same problem on my old 90).

It needs to be washed under the engine bay and frame.

The rear axle is leaking from the yoke seal.

Here are some picturess

Looks like the next project truck, what are the plans for this?

At least it has a solid front from the factory.

Lol. Yeah, I am the project man.

Well let's see

-Get fuel tank sending unit first (if that is my problem)
-Fix rust and damage
-Get a radio for it
-Install rock led lights (inside and underneath Bronco)
-Get new seals for body
-Tint windows
-Maybe lift it up 4" for some 35s
-Take off the bumper stops on the front bumper
-Replace carpet with vinyl
-Install 5 spd (ZF5) or NP435 (AFTER I DETERMINE WHAT ENGINE I WANT LATER OR IF I NEED TO GET 351M)

Are you going to keep this thread as the build thread?

Or are going to the off road / 4x4 forum.

Both would be a good place, but you know how it gets

Over there.

Congrats on getting a good, classic 4wd. Even though you'll be stopping at the gas station more often, having a m-motor now instead of the i6.

Oh jeeze a Coyote swap... That would be interesting.

Manfred, what would you put in there if you decided to drop the 351? I toyed with the idea of swapping in a 460 into TGM but I might just rebuild a 400 and put it in, I haven't decided.

I don't mind having a 400, it's a unique motor for the most part.
