2012 F250 Leaf Springs

I have a 2012 F250 with trailer tow, plow prep and the FX4 package. I had a load of dirt and the truck was squatting badly. I was getting my oil changed at the dealer and looked at other F250 without the FX4 package and they had 4 leaf springs. My truck has 3. The dealer couldn’t give me a reason why. Does anyone here know why? They did tell me I have the base leaf springs for load. That got lost in translation. Thanks for any input.

all the single tire rear springs are identical, regardless of package. The reason the other F250 had four springs is because he ordered his truck with the camper package that gave him the top overload spring. And that only hits when the truck squats bad, the reason your truck is squatting so bad is because some freaking idiot at Ford decided that the yuppies who buys these truck for just driving around town complained about the truck being rough so they designed the new springs to be so soft that a F150 can handle the same load now and not squat as much as these new Super Duties. Only thing you can do is get a spring shop to make you a extra spring, buy one from a lift kit company or add airbags to your truck. Its really sad that almost daily someone post on the same thing as you, my BRAND NEW SUPER DUTY CANT HOLD D%CK! All because a small group of people who buy them for the "look only" can make a TRUCK company redesign the main factor of a 3/4 and 1ton truck to such pitaful payload just to have a somewhat smooth ride..... very very sad

and if your dealer couldnt figure out that the other truck had the camper package which gives you the top overload spring id leave and find a smarter dealer if it were me. But then again i dont let no one but me touch my truck...

Thanks

Thank you for your replies. I am going to add a leaf tomorrow. My 99 dodge 1500 didn’t squat as bad as my f250 did with the same load. So much for Super Duty. Outside of that I luv it! If this is the only down fall I will be happy!

I'm not sure about the 2012 models, but for 2011, I have seen superduties with 3 leaf and 4 leaf main packs regardless of whether or not it had the camper package top auxilary spring. The number of leafs in the main pack had more to do with wheelbase and whether it had the gas or diesel engine.

f250 leaf springs

Purchased 2012 f250 xlt 4x4 with 6.7 in June and just towed my 2011 26ft travel trailer with tongue wt 880lbs and was extremely disapointed with the sag in the rear end even with weight distribution. Has anyone gone airlift airbags and has helped the towing.

Ford decided to soften the rear springs with the 2011 trucks in order to improve ride quality. I am a big fan of helper springs because they dont add resistance until needed. If thats not an option get some air bags, they will solve all of your problems.

I'm an airbag fan, but I tow stuff all the time. I also agree that ford messed up the newer leaf springs.

I have the camper package with the 4th "overload" spring, but I still installed Airlift airbags. They allow me to level the truck as needed and as I choose.

I'm having the dealer now add air bags this week. When I towed my 11,000lb cargo trailer and my 12,000lb travel trailer that sucker sagged allot. More than my 06 did.

Had a few truckers flash me during two of the tows. So time for airbags.

Do you by chance know if the 3-leaf springs (in the pack) are the same whether it has the camper package or not? Is the only difference the overload spring?

I just added the airbags, and am thinking of also adding the overload spring, but just wondering if the 3-pack is the same.

Do you also have the overload spring? Seems to me the truck "wobbles" around a bit in the back when airbags are inflated heavily.. wondering if the overload springs would also help stabilize it.
