PCM compatibility?

I need a new PCM. The number on mine is E8TF-12A650-Y2B. What am I looking for when trying to find one that will work? I see some eBay listing that look like they are only listing the first and last part of the part number; for example E8TF-Y2B. Is that all I'd have to match up? My truck is an 89 4.9l I6 4x4 MT. Thanks in advance for the help.

All PCMs have 12A650 as the base number. Searching with the prefix and suffix will narrow the search results, which is what you want.

Also since I just went thru this last weekend, you want to be sure that the 3-letter-1-digit code is the same. Mine was JOY0 (just as a reference) you'll find it in the upper right corner of the sticker on the PCM. The site I used was autocomputerexchange.net. Check em out

I'm not sure what code your talking about. Is it the one in big characters?

Will this one work?

It'll include the "8TL" and one of the other part numbers

Does anyone know what the difference between a E8TF-Z2B and a Y2B is?? I found one that is a Z2B but mine is a Y2B, it has a big 8TE instead on 8TL like mine on it though. Also, I found another PCM that was supposedly pulled from exact same truck as mine, 89, MT, 4.9L, 4x4, but I contacted the seller on eBay and he said its not compatible because my part number is different :-/...confused.

Does anyone have any experience with remanufactured PCMs? I can get this one http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/web...one_19700541-p
For 80$ plus tax after coupon. The prices I'm seeing on eBay are around 55$ and up. But I'm not sure of their compatibility with my truck.
