I see you have an 88 Ranger. I am thinking this is a full size truck and not a little Ranger? The numbers are casting and foundry markings I think and won't tell us much.

Is this 80 351 a W? An M or a C? I would guess a 351W. The 80 will not be a roller block and I don't think the 88 is either. They are flat tappet engines. Someone will chime in and tell us for sure.

I am not sure just what you want to know as you have giving very little information.
Do you want to put the bus engine in your truck? Does it run well? Gonna hop it up some first?

Also we like pic's. It's kind of a pain to post them and they will need re-sized unless you use like photo bucked or some similar.
This is how I do it and use and online re-sizer.

It seems awkward, but whenever you "insert a picture" to one of these threads, the forum is looking for the picture somewhere on the web (which is always available) rather than from somewhere on your hard drive (which isn't always available).

'88 Ranger is the little truck so this is a non standard swap, the Ranger Station has all the dirt on 302/351 installs so check it out.

D9AE is a 79 block assuming that is the block casting number, you'll have to supply the same from the heads as well and you'll find the numbers on the head gasket side on the bottom of one of the central intake ports so the intake has to be off at the very least to see them with a mirror. The heads should be of similar vintage and if they are this is a low compression smog motor, a swap to late model(E7TE or GT40 heads) would be beneficial, and then upgrade the cam to get all the potential that's just dying to get out and break little Ranger parts. And that brings up the next thing, you'll need an 8.8 rear diff and a trans from a fullsize truck at some point, the stock Ranger running gear will work for a short time if you're nice to it but you can expect to break things if it's wheeled or hammered on the street.

Ah I see. A little Ranger. You need to see the thread Graywolf has on here as he is doing this swap. And doing it. And doing it. And....... Well you get the idea as he has been at it for years. Last I heard he was modifying the heater box because it was in the way of the engine.

There are no numbers that will identify what type of engine it is that has to be done visually, but it's a pretty good bet that it's a Windsor since the Cleveland stopped production in 1974 and was never installed in trucks, and the M series also ended in 1982.

Okay duvaltom. Lets start all over. We can do that here with no problem. It's all about us being able to fully understand what you need. That's why we are here is to learn and help. So you have a flat tappet 351W. This we now know for sure. Next is what do you want to do with it? How can we help? Please ask your question again and spell it out fully like you was teaching the first grade about the birds and bees or something. This I am told is one of the biggest (if not the biggest) forum on the net for this kind of thing. I assure you there is nothing you can ask about a Ford truck that someone here will not be able to help with.
