A very sad day in our home today.
Today my best friend took her final trip to the vet hospital and had be put to sleep. Her name was Baby Dog but I called her Dog for short. She was 15 years old and she brought more joy and happiness to our home than she could ever possibly know.
She always greet me at the door first. She seemed to be the happiest to see my at night and the saddest to see me leave in the morning. She was a mutt but smart and sensitive.
Fortunately we have a little dog too, she's a Yorky-Poo and her name is Lady Bug. She'll keep me busy enough to cope with the loss of my buddy.

A friend of mine turned me onto to this when my silky terrier passed. I was destroyed and put all the emotions into my yorkie-poo He was my therapist and friend throught it all. Sadly he was grieving also. we helped each other through it and yours will too. Do a google on The Rainbow Bridge Poem. It will put you in tears and give you a sense of hope all at the same time. Hope you and your family will make it through this difficult time. So sorry for your loss.

Thanks everyone. First night in the house without her and not having to help her go out and get her back in is kind of a relief but sad too.
I've had some time today to reflect and remember and we had a lot of great times. She was a rescue dog. We got her when she was about 9 months old. Her original owner didn't want her anymore and he was mean as hell to her. It took some time before she would trust men, especially me as a I have a deep / loud voice anyway.
Anyway, thank you all for your thoughts. This will pass and our time will be taken up by my little doggy.

I went through the same thing last July with my nine year old Lab, Rusty. He was my best friend as well as a pet. He died of cancer in my arms waiting for the vet to come to the house to put him down. Try to reflect on all the great times and concentrate on the positive: You gave a dog a great life he would not have had otherwise. I'll be thinking of you - God Bless.
