Does the 2004 5.4 with the 4r70w torque converter have a drain plug?
I wanna change my tranny fluid and filter today. Pan and filter refill amount is like 6qts, full drain and refill is like 14. So I wanna get as much out as possible, when I did this on my old f-250 the torque converter had a drain plug that would make is self visible through the little window if the engine was in the right position. Is this the case on these? any other way to get it all out?

Haven't seen any that have one. The expensive flush is the quick way. The other is to pull the pan do maintenance, instal a $10 drain plug into it and reinstal pan, allowing you to service it more often. The trany fluid oil is stronger now. make sure you usethenewstuff. If your trans is acting up pulling the valve will disclose loose broken parts allowing the problem to occur in many cases. Having a friend who is versed in the complexity of the valve body is most helpful.

It's not acting up, just wanna do maintainence since the guy I bought it from didn't know it's last flush. I already got the plug kit for it. Guess I'll just do the pan. Should I open up that valve body anyways? I've rebuilt a few auto tranies (ford c6, gm 350, Chrysler hybrid 6 speed, and a Prius tranny. But never one of these. I just got done with a transmissions class but would rather not get into it unless I have to.
