2006 6.0 smoking, some advice to my diagnosis?

Hey there, i know there is many threads out there, that are on a similar topic, but none are explained in the situation/symptoms i have

I have a 2006 f350 with 75k on it, has a mild sct towing tune, and 4' turbo abck dual exhaust. It recently started blowing whiteish smoke, so i did an EGR cooler and valve delete kit, and it stoppe dsmoking for a while.. coinsidence?

It has recently started again, at idle there is no smoke, and taking off slow from a stop, it doesnt ALWAYS smoke. but mleaving a dead stop, if i get right into it, it billows whiteish smoke, and if im cruising, romp on it, let off it, then get on it again it will smoke.

Ive been told fuel pressure, injectors, turbo seal etc. when i had the down pipe off, no sticky black residue was present, so im counting out turbo seal (for now). I purchased the blue spring upgrade for fuel pressure, because i was told its not getting the right amount of fuel, once i get that ill throw it in and see if it fixes it.

whats yall's opinion? is it worth have it checked for a failed injector? as i said, no EGR in the truck, no loss of coolant either, oil is clean. It does seem a little sluggish at times off the line now as well.

any ideas?
thanks in advance

mine had the same symptoms a few years ago and it was oil leak in the turbo.
If you think it may be fuel pressure get a scanguage or other scan tool that supports fuel pressure readings. If i remember correctly it should never drop below 45

vote goes to one of 2 things. either you welded up a leaking cooler and are calling it a by pass or turbo seal.

Welded a leaking cooler? I have a sinister diesel EGR cooler delete, and valve delete I ordered from mkm customs. So you guys don't think it's injectors? I'll have to look into a scanguage if the blue spring kit does not solve my troubles

Scangauge won't read fuel press. It's a great gauge but doesn't do fuel press. or egt's.

Take SCT and scan it for codes/DTC

Then take you EGR Valve and Put it BACK IN and plug it in your Fan Needs it plugged in

does smoke smell like Diesel fuel???? Might be worth it to pull downpipe for a Look

and maybe a Ballon test for the Injectors

before deleting the valve on your 06 please review the info found in this thread.
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...egr-valve.html
this info comes from testing on my personal truck by me and was confirmed by Matty as well

So that thread is saying with out the valve the fan doesn't spin at correct rmp, which could cause it to smoke? How's that? Is it not cooling as it should?

If that's the case I hope I still have my egr

I know it sucks if you threw the EGR Valve away but it needs it for that fan you dont want it to over heat

Odds are egr vave missing isnt causing your smoke thats from an Injector or a bad turbo seal

my 06 f350 started blowing black smoke

I've got an 06 f350 150k miles on it. About a month ago it puffed white smoke so I replaced egr valve. One month later it started blowing black smoke... My first guess was injectors... Took it in for diag and testing and all injectors have good compression. The mechanic is recommending a egr delete along with some other work. Is this neccasary? I have to pass emissions where I live so idk this is an option... Any input is appreciated!

Best to start your own thread.
A turbo that needs cleaning would be suspect for black smoke. Not an egr cooler. If your emissions only requires a visual inspection of the cooler, you can weld both ends shut so it looks like it is still there.
