Good Morning New 6.0 owner introducing himself.

Hello my fellow 6.0 owners,

I just became the owner of a 2005 6.0 F350. I have been on FTE for several years and became a member after I bought my second Excursion with a 7.3. Been into diesels for a long time and I knew what I was getting into (I hope) with a "new" truck.

Long story short, I wanted a dually and longer wheel base to pull our new trailer. I found a good deal in our area on this truck so I bought it.

I brought it home and have changed the oil, fuel filters, and added a coolant filter. I was happy to see the previous owner had used motorcraft filters. I was also amazed to find out that Ford paid somebody to decide to place the 1st fuel filter where it was. What the HEck were they thinking?

Details on the truck: F350 King Ranch crew cab dually. Original owner 122,000 miles. New turbo, new long block, new transmission at 80,000 miles. (long story) I have $11,000 documentation to prove it. The long block has the later model stickers on it, and the FICM appears to be a new also. The EGR was deleted, but the it was NOT headstudded. It has an AFE intake, MRBP dual exhaust and Edge CTS that was included. There was nothing near the degas bottle nor on the block to see that it was having and head bolt stretching issues.

I bought a blue tooth adapter and downloaded torque pro to my phone. My delta temp has never been over 8 degrees yet. My FICM around 48-49, I forgot the rest of the top of my head.

The worst part about the truck is the owner was elderly and used it for pulling a rv. His health has failed the last two years and he decided to sell it. He said it was driven every few weeks by family, but not sure I believe that. Its been sitting with no washes and I don't think anyone ever did the leather.
I started clay baring yesterday whoaa. This is going to take awhile. I have put two lexol treatments on the seats. These things are purely cosmetic, and I want to make reliable first.

Well thats about it and I know I will be on this page as I try to learn the ins and outs of this thing.

Congrats on the find. I wouldn't worry too much on the lack of studs, plenty of 6.0's running just fine without them, including mine. A couple hundred mile pull with a load will clean up the turbo unless it is sticking now, if that's the case you need to pull it apart and clean it.

Do you know if it is or isn't tuned?

Also, consider installing a fuel pressure gauge.

It was not tuned when I brought home. I put the tuner on it to see if it work. It is actually and edge cs with monitor. I have since uploaded the mildest tow tune because that what this truck is for. I doubt I will run any other tunes from this. I might sell it and put towards custom tunes but not sure what I would get yet. Big learning curve that I am behind.

This is a great site and a wealth of information but I would dig into You Tube and subscribe to DieseltechRon amongst several others. Lots of good info and what's the old saying...a picture (video) is worth a thousand words.
Sounds like you're on the right track, monitoring your data and understanding the weak points of the 6.0.
Good luck.
