351M engine

Hi,

Was wondering if a 351M from a car is the same as a 351M from a truck. I read in one of the posts in this forum that the car and truck had different configurations for the oil pan.

The truck blocks have a reinforced bearing area and are identified by their D7TE castings.

In particular, check out the Cast Iron Parts subsection of this site:

Also, car blocks will not have the block off bolt for the front dipstick hole. You will have to block this off if you plan to use the motor with a rear sump oil pan.

Chris is correct on the reinforced main bearing walls on the truck blocks, but the 78-79 D8AE car blocks also received the reinforced main bearing walls as well.
