I found it!!!
Anyone had one of those noises that just wouldnt stop, and it drives ya nuts.. Well, I found mine..
After taking apart the pillar, half the dash, a few items under the hood, I FOUND MY NOISE!!!!!!!!!
and I will never again put a 100' tape measure in the door pockett again...

Very true statement, I have been on the rattle safari for a while now. Hopefully I will be successful as you Pat.

Man I had a buzzing sound from under my dash on my 99 250 that drove me nuts!! Was only at idle step on the gas and it would go away!! I crawled under the dash with my doctor tool in my ears and I could hear it but for the life of me could not find it! One day I had to go to the dealer for a part and and I asked one the mech there if he could pinpoint where it was coming from!! Dang if he did not find it!! One of the brake lines from the master cyl was just touching the firewall . Man I was one happy camper that day ! did not miss that buzzin sittin at the stop lites!!! Best deal I ever got from the Dealer!!

Congrats! I know that gives personal satisfaction to remove a reoccurring annoyance.
A mechanic my family has used since 1987 told us a story many years back. He is a mechanic for a large rental car "enterprise," so he deals with mostly new cars except for customer repairs (they do this on the side, when there is not a company car needing work). Anyway, they had a rattle in the front passenger area of a car that had all the mechanics befuddled. One day, they decided to take the door panel off...and they found a piece of string hanging with a 2-cent nut tied to the end. He said it could have only come from the factory that way, and I guess the factory line guy was bored that day.
He also said they will take door panels and other such panel off, and routinely find crumpled up chip bags, soda cups, etc. inside. I guess the line guys treat the car panels the way a lot of construction workers treat drywall walls...their own convenient trash can. "Out of sight, out of mind" as it were.
