We had a minute long down pour here about 30 minutes ago and have had a couple of passing showers since. I have noticed a few flashes of lightning and a rumble of thunder.
Yes it is a great spot. The one we end up most times. Behind us is a river. It looks smaller because you can only see a bit of it. We are probably 20' or so above it. It's probably somewhere around 50' wide right now. Trust me you wouldn't want to set foot in it right now. You would end up somewhere in Washington I think.
That does look like a good spot, Chris. Was in Watkins Glen today, went by a campground at the end of Seneca Lake. Trailers packed in. Like on the other side of that tree and where the picnic table is. Might as well be in a big city.
I bet that the river is moving now due to rain and snow melt.
Ya it's high right now. If we get some really warm days it will rise more yet. There is a spot just down river where there is a large rock. When the river is down in the summer the rock sticks up 6' to 8' above the water. Now you cannot see it.

Those are the kind of places we try to stay away from. Basically parking lots some of them. The one we are at has 25 sites. Its more like the older type places.

This is why I tend to go to State parks. The sites are spread out some.
