Just got a GoPro camera and shot a few videos yesterday. Here's one from the bigger dunes at the north end of the park to right near the south campground.

I saw the HERO2 video cam advertise this morning on TV, so I pulled up the web site, I was looking to see what it cost, looks like a very nice camera, I was thinking about getting one for the front of the Jeep for our trips.

 

I just asked the wife if there were any holidays coming up that she would consider buying me one of these cameras for. She laughed and said, the only holiday we would celebrate before I leave for SD would be Mother's day, she said maybe I should buy what I want for Mother's day and she would buy what she wants for Father's day. Its days like this that makes me love her all over again..
She wants me to send her the link to the website of the one I want and she is going to look for one cheaper.
So.. its a maybe..

 

If nothing else, you could borrow mine. Best buy had them for $149.00 on their website, but wasn't available for shipping or store pickup. They finally pulled it off the site. I ended up getting a package deal with suction cup mount,extra battery, and 8gb SD card, so it was more expensive than the regular GoPro Naked by itself. I asked the kid at best buy what the difference was between the three different models in the store. He couldn't tell me, and he googled it and couldn't find the difference. They all shoot in 1080p with both normal and wideangle lenses.

 

Awesome video with great quality, I'm a huge fan of filming in HD. Looks incredible when you play it up on a big TV too

 

which model is yours? the Hero 2 is $299, cheapest I have found so far.

Questions.. whats the battery situation? Are they rechargeable, or do you need to replace them every so often?

How long of a period does 8gb get you?

 

Rechargeable. I got this:

GoPro Flight Package - HERO Camcorder, Suction Mount, Battery, 8GB Memory Card

Just plug it into a usb port to charge, they say takes about 3 hours, or 2 hours with a car charger.

Says it'll shoot for 2.5 hours on battery, not sure how much video you can get on an 8gb card with 1080p, but you have the option of shooting in lower resolution as well.

 

My old laptop has 40 gig free space. My new one has 240 gig free space. We kin put it in Jr. and I have a JOTO desk for my laptop's. Then I kin faller ya on HITR in sept. and film it all. Just putter on the hard drive. Woooo hooooooo. A whole week uh vids.

 

Hmm my puter won't ope that link, I tried looking up the flight package at gopro.com, but didn't spend enough time to be able to find it, I guess.

I am however liking the 3D option, but that just means two cameras and that special case, which if I can afford one, may be as much as I can slip past the old lady.

 

Just hit up bestbuy.com and look under the go pro camcorders. They have just the GoPro Hero Naked for $199 if you don't want the extra battery, card, and suction cup mount. It comes with a 3m adhesive mount, but it'll be stuck wherever you put it.

 

If I said it once, I said it twice.. My wife is awesome!! I got home from work, plopped down on the couch, and low and behold she brings me a box (card board for you guys with a mind in the gutter).. Its a Hero 2. She said its an early Father's day gift, and I should use it this weekend. CAN'T WAIT!!!!!
