I do not have the cool cruise control brake master cylinder.. 93 f350 5 speed. When cruise is engaged, going up hill, and starts slowing down. The cruise will put the pedal to the floor. I want to downshift and keep on going, but the cruise takes too long to disengage. It revs up to redline when I push in the clutch, even if I "double clutch" it still revs like crazy for about 5 seconds. Is this normal? I notice it take a few seconds for the cruise to disengage when I tap the brakes too.

Mine is also slow to disengage. When i hit the "On" button, it's slow to come up to speed as well.

I just did this mod on my 92. There are 2 styles of servos, vacuum operated and electronic. 87-92 all seem to have vacuum servo's which is a basic system. 93's were either or years and 94's up are electronic.

I went to the junk yard and bought stuff for 30 buck's and spent an hour installing it.
Inside cab stuff; Horn button with cruise switches, servo amp, and brake pedal vacuum break switch and hoses.
Underhood stuff; Vacuum servo, vacuum resevoir, check valves and related hoses.

My truck was prewired, I plugged everthing in and hit the magic buttons. So nice to cruise. I notice the cruise option seems to be more prominent on 87-91 150's than 92-93's, same stuff just a different horn button since the steering wheel is redesigned for that year.

I have been running mine without the cruise master cylinder since this thread was started and have no issues. If the master cylinder goes out I will replace it with the correct one. As far as the parts yes if the 5.0 had cruise then all the parts will swap over. Just unbolt the servo from the fender bolt it in the truck you want plug it in and hook up the throttle cable.

Was at the junk yard today. Picked up a VINYL wheel and the servo for the speed control. Just a FYI, there is a different part # for the 302 vs the 351. It must be how it holds the speed or how soon it must give it gas based on HP rating.

I did forget the spot connector

May be that's why my cruse control "hunts" while set under 60 mph.....

Is it the vacuum servo or the electronic control that's different?

Yea, I for got to get more fuses the last time at the yard. Got to get a list made for next week.

That, or the VSS signal is wacky or the cruise cable is stretched. Does your speedo needle wave or jiggle a bit and then the engine starts hunting on cruise?

In my instance, I could accelerate to speed and then hit the cruise set, and the truck would slow a bit then jerk back to speed. Also it wasn't smooth when going up and down hills. It would jerk like the servo was swinging to extremes. Figured out the cruise cable was stretched a bit and loose. The servo would have to swing further, quicker to open the throttle to keep up with engine load. Check out this page for directions on how to make sure the cable adjustment is correct.

My speedo is good and the VSS was replaced to see if it was the problem. I checked the servo cable and adjusted it, still hunts under 60mph, slower set point the worse the hunt. Few years ago the cruse quit working totaly and I found this:

OF all the places for a ant nest!! Well I replaced the servo and it still hunts. Only thing left is the control unit and I don't have a spare to swap out. I am thinking about going with the 93+ electronic cruse as when the vacuum is 5" or lower the vacuum servo quits pulling.

Yeah. I ripped my aftermarket cruise out and threw it in the trash.

I have $74 into my factory cruise set up. I tried it yesterday. Works like a charm.

Alos recalibrated my speedo for the 35" tires too

Question about cruise control
<hr style="color:#D1D1E1; background-color:#D1D1E1" size="1"> A little background first. I have a 1996 F250 7.3 turbo diesel custom (no frills)
How difficult is the addition of a donor factory cruise control to my ride?
This model has the segregated throttle (electronic control).
Any and all ideas are greatly appreciated.
