Water Temp Guage

Water Temp Guage
Hi All,
First off, thanks to all for all the help in the past.
However, it seems that I have a problem not related to the engine.
The water temp gauge is all over the dial. It is NOT a problem with the sender as I have disconnected it, and the engine overheat sender is also disconnected.
Gauge, upon start-up, goes to full scale, engine light comes on, and then gauge goes down. This up/down continues as long as the engine is running. Oil/Volts remain steady.
Electrical TS book shows that the overtemp/water sender are connected together and go to something called "engine warning indicator module" that lights the engine light.
It would appear, if the "module" was flakey, it would affect the gauge/lite operation.
Is the module a replaceable item, or is it something that I need to worry about?
Would like to fix this problem before I start on GPs or return lines.
Thanks in advance
Lawrence
