Another Truck Value and Pain Points Thread
Hi.
First post.
I've been looking for a Ranger/B-Series for about 4 months. 2000-2005. Most of the trucks I find in the Austin region have been beat up pretty badly.
I found one B4000 4x4 that looks like it's been meticulously taken care of. The problem: 210K miles. The engine was rebuilt 10k miles ago.
This is twice the mileage of the vehicles I've been looking at, but appears to be in the best shape.
Can anyone offer any advice on areas to pay attention to when looking the vehicle over? Any common pain points i.e. the cruise control switches on the ranger?
He wants $5,500, which is nuts. Anyone have any thoughts on a reasonable price for this vehicle? No accidents, original paint in good shape, tow package, automatic, 4 door extended cab, 4x4, new tires, color matched cap, and all the power options. He also recently replaced the ball joints, radiator, brakes & battery.
Finally, any idea as to the cost of a transmission rebuild on a 4x4? I can't imagine it would be cheap, and with 200k miles, i'm sure it's the next thing to go.
Thanks,
Mike
PS: I'm probably just as nuts just for considering a vehicle with this high a mileage.
