I have a pic on my camara i will have to get up here. But i have a 8' bushhog on my tractor, and i went one lane in to far around this low spot at the house and got stuck. It is close to the highway so everyone saw it. A couple local farmers that i know stoped and ask if i need help, but pride over took me and i turned them down. I dont like people to help me when i do stupid stuff. Ended up useing a 5500# winch that i was gonna put on my bronco and a couple ****** blocks.

I see, I'm the same way when I F up, LOL. I was only a couple of miles away from where I'm staying when the hood popped up. Who comes along, my neighbor!! I said I didn't need help, feeling like a fool.

Sorry to hear about your hood glen. But speaking of hoods I've got a story that will hopefully make you feel better and maybe laugh a little too.

About 5 or 6 years ago I bought my first lawn tractor. A John Deere lx 289 pretty new at the time and very low hours. It even had cruise and a beer holder. I was grinning from ear to ear. A little while later I was away and my wife decided to mow the lawn. Well, I got home and went out to the shed and there it is, a 4" crack at the front of the hood staring me right in the face. WTF. I bring it up with my Coby and she says "I don't know what I hit". Aargh. So I tell her to be mor careful and let it go. Not 2 weeks later I get home from another trip and the lawn is nicely mowed again. The first thing I did was went to the shed. Aargh. The 4" crack is now about a foot and a half. WTF did you hit I say. "I don't know". So onto the mower I go to figure out what she keeps hitting. As it turned out she wild drive up to the deck and it's just the right height. Well with the hood rattling and flopping around now I divided I had to do something and without the funds to pay JD for a new hood I had to get creative. I grabbed a long piece of 14 gauge wire, a drill, and bit and went to work.

I call it...... FRANKENDEERE!!!!!! Muhahahaha

Mission accomplished! LOL I mean that's really, really funny because that's what I call the bottom of my camper, Frankenstein! Its insulated and covered with sheet metal to protect it from the cold. Problem is, when ever you need to get in there, you have to cut the sheet metal. I have fixed lots of leaks and replace wet insulation so what I do is lay boards in there over the cuts and use sheet metal screws to close it all up. Then caulk the cuts. There should be a better way!

Put some boards under the front of the hood and put it down. Then I walked on it and jumped a little on it. This is the best I could do. I think I'm going to be sick, excuse me.

I still cant understand how that happened, can you elaborate for me please Glenn?

Jose. I believe Glenn had thought he closed his hood, but he didn't close it hard enough for the latch to engage. So basically the hood was down, but not held down. Then when he took off it flew open due to wind.

Okay my hood has also flew up about three times, I was lucky and the hood did not have major damage. It's a good thing there wasn't any one right behind me as soon as i saw it coming up i jammed on the breaks, i also was only going 24 to 30 mph. Now my Question is what is the safety latch for?
