Yeah, we've been in minivan mode for about the last 10 years and I think I finally have the little lady convinced to get an Ex the next time around. Now all I've got to do is find a way to pay for it!
I had a Dodge minivan as a rental...it would easily squeal the tyres through that six speed auto. Yet, driving it made me feel like I lost my man card.

There are a couple of six leakers ex's I have seen around one up the street from me and another on 27 south of berne
Minivan!?!?!?
Forget that! Sell the SD and get a 7.3 Excursion!
I wish I had done that; instead I settled for an Expedition. Way better than a minivan, but no 7.3 Excursion.
My navigator is honestly doing great on dd duty.
Cold ac,comfortable,lots of room.
My only concern is the dam air ride is stupid. It works but randomly dumps air to "kneel" height. It's supposed to after it's stopped and off...it does it at stoplights and other random times.
New spring/strut assys are 235$...that may happen soon
My new michelins are already getting a bit of feathering after 2000miles due to alignment being off because it's not at proper height.
Grrrrr

Have priced the new ones? Very nice, but wow. We got 2 new vehicles for the price of one expedition. Almost...
Mine is an 03. No way I could afford a new one. I'm just kicking myself because before I bought the Expedition there was a 7.3 Excursion for sale with a blown trans for $3000. I should have bought it!
I don't think a diesel Excursion is in the cards. I think it would just be too big for the little lady to feel comfortable driving it. I'm hoping to find an '07-'10 Expedition EL in decent shape. I threw out the 'ol "we could always get you a Suburban" line, which was met quickly with sideways glances, booing and "but we're a Ford family" from the wife and kids. Indoctrination is working....even though she's currently driving a Honda and I still have the "Super Cheep".
I'd love to have a diesel Excursion, I really would, but so much of her driving is short 5-7 mile trips, I don't think it would be the best vehicle for our situation. I still want one, though...
