Oh, a friend of mine here is selling his 97 cc dually manual 7.3 with 157K on it for 11.2K. All stock I think except for a pack brake. WY truck, pretty clean!
That is very, VERY tempting. I miss Ruby some days. Dumbazz kid I sold her to blew a piston out of it apparently. Not sure how, but he texted me asking me if I knew of a good engine rebuilder. I didn't talk to him after that. He brought her by the house about two weeks after he bought her because he didn't know how to change the fuel filters event though I showed him EVERYTHING twice when he bought the truck. He told me he was a tank mechanic on Pendleton, which I guess translates to idiot, because this kid couldn't hold a wrench correctly, let alone turn one on something. He had put LED lights under it to light the ground up....purple He had also taken out my nice Kenwood radio and replaced it with one of those DVD units with a bunch of dumbchit flashy lights where the screen comes out and had his wrestling/HS graduation tassles hanging from the mirror. I about cried. Oh well. Whatcha gonna do?
Your friend should get that price easily. Ruby had 100,000 more miles and I got a little more than that.
Screw it Glenn. Just go get a new 6.7. I guarantee your wife will ask why you didn't much earlier!
+1 on that....
We have cold weather up here now and I am still fitting a cold no start issue. To date glow plugs have been replaced, uvch replaced, multiple relays tried. I have done voltage drop tests. Amperage draw tests with an amp meter. Replaced both batteries.
This leaves one thing... Wiring. I am considering running two glow plug relays to isolate each bank for further testing. Bad idea? I can use a load reduction relay from the pcm signal to fire both GP relays..
I Plan on making new battery cables with some 00 welding cable I have kicking around. I like to use solder in lugs. The factory cable on the passenger side has two cables out of it. I haven't had much luck finding one locally. Is there a disadvantage to using a post type terminal adapter for this connection?
good thing there was only a tree hooked to that and not a trailer!!!
I don't think that would have ever happened with a trailer. That was the result of repeated tugs so I could get the tree far enough out so I could cut it in half and drag it back in two pieces.

Yeah, less than $9 at Rockauto. Cheap enough that I just replaced both so I wouldn't have a nice new one and a dingy old one.
I don't think I've ever seen a receiver break like that. It doesn't look like the inside of the break is nice and shiny. Did you wait a while before taking the picture, or was there a crack that kept getting worse over time?
HA, she is still on my *** about buying the new camper and that was two and a haft years ago. $70-80K for a new dually, forget it!
Nah, you don't have to spend that kind of coin. Maybe if you want a KR or platinum. But you can get a power optioned XL for a lot less. The Ox is a great truck. Set up well. Just don't go drive a new one...
I'll take your advise on that one Todd. I have mentioned a time or two over the years to Patty about getting a new one and she says NO! lol She is very frugal and cheap, youngest of six.

Yeah, that was two weeks ago so it has started to rust. I would have thought the hitch pin would shear first.

I can certainly understand that! These new ones have a long way to go before they can be compared to the toughness of the 7.3. However, if budget is not a concern, you really have to love these OBS 7.3's to stay in one. I'm about to tow close to 20k in one of our new trucks. They're effortless.
All that being said, I'll still NEVER part with the Mare when it's finally road worthy. Lol.
