My alternative 40-20-40 seat...and pic of truck

My 40/20/40 was getting tired and really looking dated so I spent a couple hours at the wrecker and came up with these. Took a day to get them in but worth it...firmer, updated look and power drivers to boot. Out of a 2007 Ram. Added bonus of a map pocket behind passenger seat and the center section also has extra storage inside the lower cushion. I also used its seatbelt clasps, again for a more modern touch.
They are grey and match very well - just doesn't look like it in the pic.

Pic of the truck too...new here

Believe it or not...I got them for $75. Pulled them myself and then destroyed my back hauling 'em from the other end of the parts yard.

Damn that's a steal. Planning on scouring the local yards soon for a set on new seats. What modifications did you have to make to get them in?

The drivers seat was simply drilling new holes in the ford seat 'tray'. The center section needed a couple tabs welded at the back as it was an inch or so deeper than the 'tray' (it could stand to be an inch higher). The passenger seat needed some plate welded to it to accept the ford sliders. And those of course fit it the stock original locations.
Going to a non power drivers seat would make it a little easier. The non power seats have a thinner backrest so I welded a non power backrest to the power seat base; in an effort to gain as much room as possible.

Couple of drawbacks... The seats do not tilt forward much, if anything. When I welded the drivers backrest on I fudged it so I could get more forward tilt. Other thing...no cup holders. Luckily I rarely drink anything in a car.

Too bad, there was at least two others I saw with the same set-up. Some pieces missing but easily found from another...
Good luck

You can add this to the center console:

ProParts Dodge Ram Molded Cup Holder - AutoTruckToys.com

That one is expensive, but do a search for Dodge ram center console add on cup holder. It mount on the outside in the front of the console. I have one on my Ram and it works great!

You did a great Job, looks great!

If you don't mind I have a couple of questions. I too am looking at new seats and like what you have done so here are my questions.

1) I have an extended cab would I need to do the back modifications you did?

2) Do either or both lean forward enough to allow someone to climb into the back seat of an extended cab?

3) Can you post some after install pictures of what you welded and where to make them fit?
