My front visor has a screw that won't tighten up all the way, ie stripped out. I have to reach out my window every 30 miles or so and tighted it up with my fingers to keep it from making noise. Can't find a bigger screw. Is there some kind of insert or something I can do with the hole to make it smaller (without welding) so it will stay tight?
Any ideas welcome. Maybe I should know, but I don't.
we have a tool at the shop that has these inserts. There is a tool that the insert threads on to then is inserted into the hole and pull the handle. That expands the insert and sets it and wala, nice new threads, machine thread, many sizes. You should be able to get them from any auto body supply house.VERY helpful for many uses! We use them alot in fiberglass street rods.

On both my '97 and '96 the center bolts right above the windshield stripped out, I drilled through BOTH layers of the roof and put a long bolt through it from inside the cab. Had to pull the head liner down, and took a second person to tighten it but it never loosen up again.
Hey,NO problem. I am thinking it is something like thread setter or similar.
We use it for all kinds of stuff. Electric trunk lifter to deck lid, interior trim panels etc. Very usefull. Even exterior mirrors....
