2005 F-150 King cab rear speaker help

My dad has a 2005 F-150 supercab with speakers in the rear doors. It has the factory 6 disc cd changer(5L3T-18C815-FH) and all factory speakers. I purchased and installed the factory overhead rail DVD system and factory harness to plug into the radio.

Several months ago the rear speakers were not as loud as they should be and we replaced them with Infinity speakers from Crutchfield using factory harness adapters. The sound improved but wasn't where I thought it should be. Last week the rear speakers stopped working completely. I opened the doors and rechecked the connections and they were fine. I then went through the settings on the DVD player and all appeared correct. Lastly, I disconnected the DVD harness from the radio and reconnected everything as if they player wasn't installed. Still nothing from the rear speakers. If enter the fade controls and move it to the rear speakers there is no sound at all.

I have no idea where to go from here. My guess is that the amplifier for the rear speakers in the factory head unit is dead but I have no idea how to test that. I sure would appreciate any guidance I could get and thank you in advance for your time.

Ive got the same issue on my 07. No sound from the rear channel. I assume its the headunit. I very doubt that wires are broken in both rear doors.

I think it has to be the head unit

but I want to be sure before I replace it.

Unfortunately I know very little about speakers/head units and all that but my guess would be if it worked after you originally replaced the speakers and you've checked all the connections then you might have to replace the head unit.
