AC Question

So, I pretty unimpressed with the air in my 2011 SC 250.

I keep the climate at about 69, and seems like is work about half as good as my 2010 F150 with climate did. When idling it blows almost warm, only cools when the RPMs are up there. My F150 seemed to be the same no matter what.

Not good as I idle alot on jobsites. Granted it is a balmy 111 today here in AZ, I did notice this a few months ago.

Anyone else have comments on the coolness of the air? MaybeI will have them check it out at next oil.

Don't know about 2011 but often deisels turn accessories to slow at idle. There are ways to increase idle speed, or likely pully size to increase the speed of the AC pump.

You're describing the symptoms I had just before my evaporator coil went. Ford had a series of trucks shipped out with poor seams on the coil. The other cause could be the blender doors. There have been some failures of them as well. If these doors aren't working properly, this too could cause your symptoms.

If it is either one of these, the dash needs to come out.

That's what my 2011 was doing before they replaced the evaporator, service writer said it was leaking Now mine will freeze you out even in the 110 Ariz. sun.

i am in Vegas and the ac has no problem keeping up in the summer heat. Even after sitting in the sun for hours, about 5 minutes of driving and its good to go. I would think it is a problem with your truck. But if its not, maybe you should look at wiring in SEIC, aka high idle. its easy as hell to do and there are plenty of instructions on how to do it on here.

I'm thinking you should get into the dealer. I find the AC great and there are a few threads on here about how much better it is than PMY.

Thanks for the tips.

I will get it in, just seems way of to me. While at stop lights it blows warm, yet when above like 1k rpms, it get colder. Sucks in city traffic when its 110 out.

Is this evap coil someything that is a warranty item? was a service letter written on it?

My AC takes forever to work and is unimpressive. I think climate control cars dont get as cold cause you just cant put it on high / max and leave it there. It approces the set tmp and sARTS TO BACK OFF. wHERE IS THAT SENSOR ANYWAY??????

Mine was doing the same thing at idle, hot air. My fan clutch was not working and it would turn off compressor at idle. New fan clutch and now it will freeze you out.
