The filter would still be a decent investment due to its longevity. Some have MAF issues some dont. Just remember more air flow through the filter = more particle flow through the filter. Do you have a tuner?

I don't have a tuner, it is on my list of things to purchase here, but I wanted to get all my performance stuff out of the way prior to doing so.. What little there is really available haha..

I dont tow or even haul so I am really just throwing money at it as a hobby, I am addicted to modifying anything I own If I had a GEO Metro I would be doing everything possible to make it into a decent car haha!!

Best bang for the buck in "performance stuff" for the V10 is and will be the 5-Star tunes. As suggested, go with the tuner first. You may not want to go that route, but you will learn to listen to your elders. LOL

The only reason I wanted to do the tuner last is because I though you give Mike all the specs (mods and such) on your truck and he gives you tunes accordingly, or does this even matter? That was really my only reasoning behind waiting haha..

It can make a difference, but I'm not so sure how much. Besides, just contact Mike after the sale, he'll adjust the tunes to whatever you want.

Don't like a shift? He'll change it, send you the new tune by email, and you put it on the tuner using your computer. Hook the tuner to the truck, flash the new tune, and away you go.

Talk to him, tell him you might add stuff later, and see what he says.

The SCT X3 tuner he uses also allows you to change shifts and spark timing yourself within a certain range, and even WOT fuel mix.

Don't want to bring this back to the to but I was pricing put the 5 star tuner today and I came across his dyno graphs, now if they are real (i am sure they are with the rep that he has), it shows a decent gain with an aftermarket intake and exhaust combo over stock.. So what's the deal, or is its all in the exhaust?

the y-pipe is for pre 2005 models..

I just found a Volant intake for $100, part of my wants to buy it just because its so cheap but I hear you guys calling me an idiot in the back of my mind haha.. Its a discontinued Volant intake so they are on DEEP discount.

It is one of those things that you have to like and not worry about what others think. If you really want it then get it. Your engine doesn't need it, but you might. LOL

+1 on this!

As long as something doesn't decrease performance and/or MPG's and its only a small amount of money to you go for it!

Personally I'd want something for its positive effects but I'm hard pressed to ever justify so many vehicle "improvements" I've made over the years. Oh, to have most of that money back again huh?
