Help with 1993 Power steering pump pully

i Just had to put in a new power steering pump and i also bought a new pully for it. i got the pump installed and the pully about halfway on but i can't get it on any more and it's nowhere near aligned to the other pullys. it's on where you put it on part way then screw a bolt into the shaft then tighten a nut up to it to push it on i got it as far as i can but it won't move and more even with a air socket.
does anyone have some ideas of how to fix it?

How did you get the old one off? Are you holding the bolt head with a wrench and turning the nut? I dont understand where an impact would come into play. If its not working, then take it to a machine shop or rent the tool. Hope this helps.

Help with 1993 Power steering pump pully

the old pully i had to break it to get the pump off because i can't fit any of the 5 pullers i have in there i was turning the nut but now it won't turn any more. and since i can't get a puller in there to pull it off and try again i go to find a way to just get it to go the little bit more

try a washer between the pulley and nut. Put the bolt head in a vice and use a big crescent wrench to turn the nut. It sounds like you dont have enough leverage. This is how we install them at work, but with an actual pulley tool. Good luck

i can't take out the pump or put it in with the pully on there's not a big enough hole for the pully to come out

Help with 1993 Power steering pump pully

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 12-Oct-02 AT 06:34 PM (EST)]They make a puller/installer just for power steering pump pullies. My advice would be to get one of those. I believe most parts stores will rent one to you. I bought mine for about 75 dollars. Good luck
