HIO Silver's Lo-Buck Bumpside Build
#511
Already have a riding mower so the mower deck has been deleted. It's strictly for towing, trailer spotting, and driving through the neighborhood for GTGs/ cookouts.. Sometimes parking is scarce and I know this thing can fit anywhere easily... and it has a key so it is secure! That's why it has headlights and tail lights because football and baseball games sometimes end late.... the cooler rack doubles as a jump seat.

Thats a cool little tractor hio. I've got an old Allis chalmers simplicity tractor. It's designed more like a tractor, but still on riding mower size. Anyway, It had a 10hp single popper originally, but I squeezed a 25hp Kohler command V-twin into it. I put 1" straight stacks on it coming straight up around the hood! It sounds like a Harley. I was going to use it for competition pulling before it got all regulated and organized. So far I've used it to pull a 3,000lb trailer up a steep gate ramp in high gear. Didn't even struggle haha.
By the way, what kind of thing is that that you soaked your driveshaft in? Some sort of electro-acid bath?

I was gonna install dual exhaust and side pipes but it would have took alot more fabbing. I decided to simplify it. I'm gonna hunt for another tractor... these things are fun.

Here's a pic of the nearly complete driveshaft... I need to order a funky splined cork seal that keeps the grease in the slip yoke of the rear driveshaft. The wrappings are so the yoke doesn't chip the paint. And yes, the zerk fittings are on the compression side.

LOL. The locals down in San Diego call National City, "nasty city". .. it's a less desirable area of SD.... My brother lives in SD metro.... I'll have him pick one up for me. Thanks again Jeff. You're THE man...

BTW, Ford suggests special grease on those splines. Was originally "Slicone Grease" part number D2AZ19590A. Was in about a 10oz can or so. That number has been replaced by Motorcraft part number XG8A. Which is called PTFE lubricant in a 1 pound can. Just now I ran across XG8 which is a 3 oz tube. This grease can be used for a lot of stuff. Power window motors,o-rings,Etc.

Special grease? I'll look into that. The yoke has a grease fitting on its side and an air escape hole on its aft end.

I like your cruiser a lot.
This is what I planned to build for cruising, but I can not fit in it. Notice it fits between the wheel tubs. It is a 1969 Wizard with a 5 horsepower and 20 inch deck. Era correct for your vintage trucks.

There was a member in here (or was it the Other Site/) with a Ford lawn tractor.... it had a blue oval and everything. I want one of those!
Here's a pic of one.. It's a Ford YT-16.

BTW,the o'l zerk fitting yokes got standard grease. The later ones got the silicone grease. It greased better and took care of some driveline knock noise when the splines get just a tad loose and worn.
