Rough Country Leveling Kit

I was looking at this kit for my 04 F250 SD. However I just noticed it says for the V-10 and Diesel models only... What is the difference that would cause this not to work with my 5.4L V8?

I tried searching their site, and did browse google a bit to see if I could find a kit for the non V-10 / Diesel truck. But I have yet to find one that does not say this.

Thanks

The V10 and Diesel are heavier motors. It might give you a little more lift if you put in a 5.4 gasser.

I just ordered the ProComp leveling kit for mine. It comes with leaf springs, etc. I am going to run Bilstein shocks instead of the ProComps though.

Here is the one I ordered.

Spring/ Es9 K4012 Kit 2" 4/99-04 F250/ F350 Pro Comp | Dirt Parts Depot - Jeep, 4x4 and Off Road Parts

It says it will only clear 33's. My truck stock has the equivalent of 33's on it now. So I am sure it will clear larger tires than 33s.

I am also installing the ready lift 4 inch rear blocks on mine. I will post up some details after I get all of it on the truck.

Thanks for the info. I figured weight but was not sure if there was another difference. So the link you posted I did not see anywhere them mention for gas or diesel. That kit I was talking about in my original post. I was also going to add a 4inch block in the rear to replace my 2 inch block. Wonder how bad the ride quality would be since it is not diesel...

The guy at 4wheelparts.com told me that the ProComp kit is supposed to ride really well. That is why I decided to go with it.

My truck is actually in the shop having some paint/body work done from a minor fender bender I had a couple of weeks ago and it is supposed to be done by tomorrow evening.

I should have parts sitting on my porch when I get home tonight for the rear lift. I am picking up all the other goodies tomorrow. I will be installing it all next week. Hopefully by next weekend I can post up some pics and give you an idea of how the ride is.

I decided on the Bilstein shocks because I have read that the ProComp shocks are not all that great. I ordered them from shockwarehouse.com. Bilstein - KYB - Rancho - Monroe - Edelbrock Automotive Truck Shocks and Struts - Shockwarehouse.com
mode=results&selected_model=4001&selected_year=200 2

I purchased the BTS Heavy Duty shocks. They were $299.99 for the set.

I have done a TON of research on the leveling kits, what I have found is there are about 3 different ways to lift the front.

Mini Spring Pack that you can get on ebay for around a 100 bucks. 99-04 Ford F250 F350 Leveling Lift Kit Super Duty 2.7" | eBay

Then there are the Leaf spring hangers/shackle kits, like the one rough country has. Ford Suspension Lift Kits

And last there are actual new leaf springs. I decided to go with new leaf springs. If I ever decide I want to go higher with the new leaf springs I can add a mini spring pack or shackle kit. Along with the fact that it is going to replace my old worn out factory leaf springs with new ones.

All of these will accomplish the same thing, they are made to lift your truck. They just do it in different ways.

I imagine the ride quality will be the same between Diesels and Gassers. For my dollars I decided on new leaf packs. It is supposed to give the best ride anyway.

I want the new leaf packs as well since mine are about as saggy as they get. Thats why i was looking at the kit with the new leafs that said v10 or diesels only.

Thanks for the input.

BTW... If anyone has their stock 4" blocks from their f350/diesel truck after doing a lift kit and no longer needs them PM me so we can discuss a price. Id like to find a decent used set instead of paying $150 for a kit. I can get the hardware for much cheaper else where.

Thanks.
