1990 f150 5.0 litre oil filter antidrainback

i just changed engine oil with a napa 1515 oil filt every time i start it now it sounds like its starting dry is the filter faulty? what should i do

Could be a defective filter. Use a different filter or try a different brand. I like motorcraft filters.

Cheap filters use a plastic valve that quickly distorts and then leaks allowing the motor to drain when it's off, look for a filter with a metal drainback valve like the Ford FL1A.

The 1515 Napa filter should have a good anti-drainback valve. Maybe the one you bought was defective. I've used those for years and never had any issues.
