1973 F100 2WD Flatbed

After owning Fords for quite some time, including a recent 1985 Ford F150 4x4 in camouflage (currently for sale), I decided to trade the dreaded feedback carbed F150 for an older dentside -- my favorites anyhow.

I purchased a 1973 F100 from a farm here in Colorado. It had been used to haul hay for quite some time and was outfitted with a flatbed. Recently, the 360 FE was rebuilt and the ignition upgraded. She fires up perfect EVERY time without ever pumping the pedal. My plan is to do a partial restore so that she can be drive a couple times a week and used reliably for small projects and jobs around the house and for family and friends.

The goal is to create a "restored" farm truck for all sense and purposes. Since she's mechanically reliable, I'm jumping in head-first and finding someone to do rust repair at the bottom of both doors (the only rust on the truck) with the 9" patches from Bronco Graveyard and straighten out both slightly dented front fenders. Additionally, she'll be getting a fresh coat of paint and clearcoat on the cab... which brings up the first question for discussion: what are your thoughts on my color choice?

I'm not going for original, just a great looking truck that looks like it may be newly delivered to the farm. I want to get the cab painted a light blue, sorta like a baby blue or sky blue. Afterward, I plan on making wooden stakes for the flatbed and paint them white.

Anyone good at photoshop that can throw that color combination together on my truck?

I'm sure many, many more questions will follow and I look forward to working with all of you as I rebuild this beauty.

Welcome to the dentsides! Looks like a pretty solid truck.

As for color, I like the sky blue look it has. It might actually be cheaper to get new doors, depending on how far you wanna drive. Search CL for people parting out dents.

Sounds like a good plan so far!

Thanks for the comments.

As for new doors, I've looked around, but in all honesty, the doors I find around here are in equal or worse shape than the doors that are currently on it. I found the bottom patch panels for about $20/each as opposed to used doors for at least $40-50/each, not including their inferior condition.

The rust goes along the bottom of each door and is only rusted through about the size of a fifty-cent piece on each.

Until I get the truck to the body guy, I think I will begin cleaning up the interior.
