Just some trivia because we always have the bad stuff.

Took a trip to see my son at Ft. Polk, LA.

Going down I had a few of the big tough boxes for him and coming back I had some stuff he wanted me to store as well. So basically an unloaded trip.

Total RT miles were 2,813.9
Total Fuel was 160.06
Mpg average was 17.58

Travel speed was right at a 65 mph average (2442 miles)

Time going down was 19 hours, 38 minutes. RT was 18 hours 16 minutes. Total of 37.54 hours

cost was 25 cents per mile.

Oh..regens..with the latest flash around the 400 mile mark.

I run the banks on level 2, just over stock powerwise. Billed as the economy level.

Well it helps keep your speed down for one.

Also a good testing ground for your suspension. the auto makers would be wise to set up shop there instead of investing time and money to build a facility.

Everyone there should be driving a SD because everything else will fall apart after a couple of years.

Really was pretty countryside though.

6.4 mileage seems to be good for lots of highway guys. Maybe not great, but not as bad as talk can go.

I got close to you're mileage with the DPF on.

x2

I hear from alot of late model year guys of other brands that their mileage aint that great either. My 4x4 f-350 empty is 8k lbs so my 16-18mpg on the highway is not that bad in my opinion. shoot my ram 1500 Hemi got less than that.

Great info as it helps all of us compare as to what is a norm for the 6.4. There is so much talk about how bad the mileage is on these trucks, and you know, compare it to others of the same weight, and POWER! Folks, these things are not Volkswagons that get 42 mpg with a tailwind! And to top it off, I feel safe when cruising down the interstate. That means a lot to me.

I too get similar mileage (17.5 - 18 mog) when I do my occasional runs from Buffalo to Albany and back. Smooth, flat and steady runs at 65 - 70 mph do seem to result in the best fuel efficiency.

I'm bone stock 4x4 crew cab with 3.73 gears.

Very nice! Looking through my notes, I've topped out at 16.4-16.8 going 65-70mph straight shot freeway on shorter runs lightly loaded.

I recently got a Tonneau cover, so it will be interesting to see how that helps on long freeway runs too
