I bet that sort of behavior is in my future... I have a back-up one that I suppose I should swap in, but that one has 355k on it, whereas the on I'm using now that's going bad only has 200k on it. "only"

The elusive IVS

I have a Mouser Electronics main warehouse/distribution retail outlet center located near my home and do business with them often. If one of the members here would be kind enough to send me an old non-working IVS switch I will personally take it to their customer service technical support dept and do my best to locate a suitable replacement.

Now that's what I'm talking about! I tried to send you some reps, but the site says no...

even though, mine is acting up right now, if/when I do replace it, I think i'll keep it as a backup until I get a replacement.

I was able to rep you, though GSC...

And, if no one offers up a busted IVS for you to go to Mouser with, i'll take some good measurements and send them over when I swap in my other one.

the electrical function of the switch is pretty straightforward, its the mounting and electrical connections that would be nice to match up with a new part.

I've got a spare pedal assembly, I can take some close-up pics tonight, maybe with a tape measure.

Thanks as well for the offer!! Reps sent

I'd send you mine but it's my daily driver and still working enough to get me around for now.

X2 on trying to get some pictures.

Pics:

Removed from the pedal. It's aprx. 2" wide by 1.625" high, with the pin not pressed (contacts closed).

Installed on the pedal, with the stop pressing the pin (contacts open). Pin travel is only about 1/16", maybe 2mm.

Connector; hopefully that'll help determine the connector type / terminal size. 'Course, it's only a switch; splicing in another connector would def. be on the menu.

i assume those rivets (in the upper corners of the switch on the top two images) come through that mounting plate. the on that I posted a link to had two mounting holes that might be close to those locations. ...at least maybe its a starting point for their search at Mouser. like the connector, though, having those holes line up would be nice, but it'd be easy to drill new holes in that mount bracket.

good work with the pics MP!

Edit: nevermind about the holes matching up to the one posted. the hole spacing on the datasheet of that part is 5mm (just under a 1/4") whereas we need ~1-5/16" the switch button does look like a pretty close match. maybe that same manufacturer makes something like we need! here's to getting my hopes up!

Correct - the switch proper is riveted to that L-bent bracket, which then bolts to the pedal assembly with a torx screw.

I forgot to yo-yo the thickness of the switch, but I guesstimate it at 8 or 10 mm (5/16"-3/8").

I'm not finding anything on that Mouser site that matches the configuration of the mounting holes, the pin/plunger and the connector. Maybe just putting the pics on a mobile device and taking it into various electronics supply houses to show the dudes would be the way to go.

i agree - there are literally tens of thousands of similar functioning switches at mouser. hopefully someone there with some experience can find something a lot quicker than we can clicking through thousands of part numbers.

Newark Electric (in North Jersey) might be worth a try as well if anyone here lives near there. DigiKey is another huge electronics supplier, but I don't know where they're located and they're more Printed Circuit Board specialists, I think.

oh, and for whoever can actually go in and speak with someone - be sure to lay it on thick: "I know of literally HUNDREDS of guys who need these switches and will buy online."

100*$2/per switch is literally hundreds of dollars of sales for these companies!!! though I guess in reality, we're talking TENS of guys rather than hundreds :-)

But the tens of guys plus others will buy two or three to have spares. At the beginning of this thread over hundred, I think without going back, were sold and then they were sold out and have been for over a year.

More can be made, someone just has to order the minimum quantity, which is 100 or 125 depending where you look. I sure Mouser could order them if they wanted to. Personally, I'd like someone like Riffraff Diesel to get involved.
