Am I crazy?

Someone had brought a 1978 ford f150 going to put it in a wrecking yard. I offered $300, they took it and gave me the pinkslip. So now I've got a 3rd vehicle in the driveway the ford does run though. Believe it or not it actually passed smog not the best readings but it did pass.

The ford has a 300 6 cyl and is automatic. Im not sure why they were going to take it to the wrecking yard, a running truck that passes smog... But Im glad I saved it from the crusher.

Probably because people rarely think things through. Chances are someone was given it and didn't want it because it was "old".

I guess so "old" and I will admit it is slow, but so far I cant find anything wrong with it. The dash is cracked but that can be expected for something this old. The ignition key goes into the dash though which is kind of cool.

Probably the best $300 you've spent in years.

A running driving truck that passes inspection? Around here it would go for a grand anyways. If nothing else you can keep it as a beater truck to make dump runs or gravel runs with.

Nice save! I think you will be able to recoup your $300 anytime you choose to let it go. In the meantime, enjoy it.

Some 78's had round headlights with the big grille. If the grille is original, a 77 will have a split grille, while a 78 will have one big grille.

Wow! Even if you drive it for a year and it flames out you've more than ahead with this lucky find.

Maybe you'll come across someone in dire need of a good vehicle, down on their luck and you have the perfect one for them---good Karma that way.

Otherwise parts are still available if needed although you need to be careful---don't wanna spend more in repairs than you paid for the whole thing!

You need to post some photos----I'll bet its not that bad looking.

It does have round headlights and split grill. According to the dmv its a 1978 so Im going to have to trust the dmv. Who ever had it before likely put a 77 grill on it. Ive never seen a truck made in July so this must of been like one of the first 78 models to roll off the assembly line.

But according to the vin number its suppose to have the C6 in it, the numbers on the door are 7/77 and bought it for only $300 so I did hit the jackpot I guess.
