86 Clutch Pedal Return Spring Question

Hey all,

I've been cleaning and repairing a clutch pedal assembly for an 86 era FSeries.
It fell off my bench and the clutch pedal return spring came flying out.

It LOOKS like the spring bushings sit in these indents ( radiused areas ) in the arm on the clutch pedal and the pedal frame...
....either that or items broke.

So my question: is the only thing that holds this spring in place pressure ?
Meaning, right now there is no hole that the bushing and spring-end presses into, just an indent ( detent, radiused area ) in the pedal arm and frame that the bushing/spring-end SITS in.
Just wanna know if this is correct or not....

Thanks in advance for the laughter/answer to the stupid question !!

Nick

according to the blow up in the parts catalog...don't look like there is anything fastening it.

Shows as part E1TZ-7534-A (T19 tranny correct?)

Hope this helps.

hey 82,

I have that same pic, found on this site a while ago !
....those pics sometimes lack detail, so I was aniticpating the worst.
I figured there must be more to retaining that decent size spring.

'priciate your thoughts !

You are correct, the only thing that holds the spring in place is the pressure alone.
Not fun when they go flying.
