Question New Truck? Need Opinions and Help

Not sure if this is under the right category but ill see.

I'm looking for your guys help on picking out a new truck, I'm hoping to buy one next year sometime and here is my thoughts.

The truck that ill buy I will definitely lift. 6" lift Probably minimum. I don't have anything to tow but I want to be able to have around 35-37" tires. My commute for travel is very short such as from the house to places. Anyways heres my choices and I just wanna hear your guys opinion. Also ill include the prices. Prices are in Canadian and taxes included. It will also be my daily driver.

Brand new 2012 Ford F150 5.0L V8. Crew Cab. 5'5 box FX4 All Options.
$53000.

Used 2011 F150 5.0L V8 Crew Cab. 5'5 Box Platinum. All Options
With 20-40xxxkm around $35-45000

Used 2008-2010 Ford F250 SuperDuty Crew Cab Short Box. Diesel.
With 30-70,xxxkm around $30-38000

Brand New 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7L V8 Sport. Crew Cab Short Box All Options.
$46000

Brand New 2012 Ram 2500 Diesel SLT All Options Crew Cab Short Box.
$61000

I love the thought of Diesel but the cost of maintenance seems to turn my away from it, the idea of a Diesel is nice to when it comes to the bigger tires, but I think to myself do I really need Diesel if I don't tow anything worthy? I like the Heavy Duty feel of a 3/4 Ton Pickup but when in gas version the MPG can be pretty bad for a daily driver.

Hope you guys can help me decide!

I mean if you lift a bone stock truck and put 35-37 inch tires you are probably going to get crappy gas mileage, gas or diesel. Diesels are built for 1 thing, work...

If you have no commute and barely drive the truck I would say stay away from the diesel, they like to be driven, and driven hard. Driving for 5 minutes and shutting it down is not good for them, plus you are going to get horrible mpg around town.

It really comes down to your personal preference. Test drive all of them and see which one gives you the best bang for your buck.

If you aren't towing I see no reason to own a diesel.

You are thinking wrong about diesel. Think about it this way
>>> do I need money in my pocket, or do I want them to fly away at gas stations?
90+ commercial haulers I see on the roads drive Dodge.
They must know something people on this forum don't
Good luck figuring it out.

F150 with 37" tires?

Well considering your guys two thoughts I would consider a diesel pointless because I don't have a big thing to tow and probably won't in the next few years. Maybe as I get older in age I may have a trailer home of some sort to tow.

So for now I have my decision cut down to:

2012 F150 5.0 Brand New
$53000

2012 Ram 1500 5.7 Brand New
$46000

I want to stay loyal to Ford and I would prefer the F150 over the Ram but the price tag is killer considering they both, in reality, have the same options. What would you guys consider? Between those two? I've heard the newer style rams have front end troubles which would be an issue for me since I want to run bigger tires and a lift that would kill the front end even faster. I won't consider the ecoboost cause I want the grunt of a v8.

You come to Ford forum asking opinions about Dodge?
I did admire older Dodge PowerWagons, especially the one from Simon & Simon movies, but never owned one.
Why don't you test drive both and make your own conclusion. If the salesman will try to talk too much BS, I have a series of good questions to shut them down.
-what is the 55 to 70 mph acceleration time
- what is the mpg difference driving 55 vs 65 mph.
have long list, but those 2 usually do.
Than you are still making the common error putting initial price as a critical point.
You are going to put lot of money into modifications. Ford -being more popular truck has those things cheaper than Dodge, meaning the final price on Dodge MIGHT come higher than on Ford.
Than compare resale value.
It is like buying cheap flashlight batteries for $1 only to have to buy new ones a week later, instead of spending $2 for batteries that will work for a month.
But than all gasser owners on this forum like to make the same
