Anyone else have this noise
I have a 2012 FX4. and lately when I start it I get sorta like a gurgling or sound of rushing fluid from the heater core area (passenger side floor board). I have felt there and verified my heater core is not leaking as no fluid on the floorboard of the passenger side.
Im wondering if Im a little low on fluid and I can have a air bubble or id Overheat... not sure why Im getting the sound upon start up...after running amount a min or two it goes away like it gets pressurized or something.
Just not sure how concerned I should be about it. I plan to add a little fluid as none in reservior......not leaking any antifreeze...and I will leave cap off and run a bit to purge an air (if any) in system.
I also sometimes get a antifreeze smell but not strong and I think now that using heat after summer for the first time its coming from the air vents...may or may not be related as Ive had before it firing up heat before in the fall.
Thank you All for feed back

The degas bottle (the reservoir) should have coolant in it all the time between the min and max lines. That may be your issue.
If you top it off and it goes down again with no signs of leaking (no puddles), your cap may be bad. They cost about $8 to replace.

Sounds good. I also thought that was the case....I have been checking warm. thank for info on cap too. I doubt cap as when I start to slowly unscrew I hear air rushing so its airtight. but Yeah. I will fill up the reservoir to proper specs.
I hope its just that. and No antifreeze in oil or anything as I have checked that RIGHT AWAY!!
thanks

update sort of. had issue with truck this last week. the motor locked up upon starting and I figured it was the ac compressor clutch locked up as it was squealing like a toddler at disney world so towed off to dealer.
It was the ac compresssor and tensioner pulley locked up... but I mentioned the radiator cap to them and they looked at it and said they found a gasket leaking and some bad hoses that allowed coolant to escape and said it was not the cap and blah blah...2k later it still gurgles a bit down there so Im just monitoring it for now and make sure my heater core doesnt or isnt going bad.
