Disaster avoided.
Thursday drove the 92 Truck to work. On the highway I notice the truck did not sound right. Stopped and thought the 4x4 maybe got locked on. No they were fine. The closer I got to work the noise was worse. It sounded like a wheel was coming off the truck.
Well after pulling the hubcaps I found the front right rim had cracked all the way around the center hub. Man I was lucky. Driving on the highway at highway speed that it did not separate on me.
The problem was the rim hub size was too small for the truck. It is a 4 3/4 hub hole. What is needed is 4 7/8th hub hole opening for the rim to fit over the hub. Glad the spare fit properly.
Now I need to find the right rim and replace the lugnuts. They were also damaged.
So anyone have a spare 8 bolt 4x4 rim on hand they no longer need. Also an extra set of lugnuts for the same.
I guess the smaller hub size are for 2 wheel drive older trucks with a Dana rearend.

Wow that is freaky! Were the incorrect rims installed when you bought the truck?
Its insane to think what could have happened because of a mistake like that.
I have a set of 4 rims from a dodge that I was going to use on a trailer, but ended up using new rims. Throw me a PM if they would work for ya, as Im pretty sure they have the same bolt pattern. Not sure if your hubcaps would work or not though.

Yes the rim was on the truck. I had not rotated them. Mostly due I had not used it that much in a year.
I will be on the look out on the rims in the future. AT least I know now that 92 4x4 F250 hub sizes are different. For what other years are the same I do not know.
The Dodge ones would fit. Are they 8 bolt ones also. I now need to be concerned about the hub hole size.

Thanks Sheldon for the rim offers. I found a actual ford rim and got the tire remounted on it.
It was found the rim that broke was a Chevy rim. They have no markings to indicate they are chevy where ford and dodge have their logos on the rims.
The other 4 rims I have here are chevy rims. The chevy rims have a smaller hub size. I do not know if Dodge hubsize are the same as ford.

Morris it is OK Got all fixed. Now to fix a few other things. The glow plugs seem to need to be replaced. Truck hard starting when cold (Damp mornings or +2 tempsor lower)
I notice a bit of grind when shifting. It sounds like the throw bearing is going or the slave cyl releases too soon when I clutch. If I release the clutch painfully slow it may not grind. So I will have to tackle this over the summer.
New learning curves for me.

It seems not to be the syncro gears. It seems to be the throw bearing. It happenes when I clutch to slow down amd brake and do not shift gears. When I release the clutch there is a clunk with a bit of grind. You can feel it in the shifter. This clunk happens in all gears, even reverse. It always happens at the tail end of the dlutch pedal travel at releasing. I'm already in gear. So this tells me it is the throw bearing or the slave cyl is not working right.
One of these days I will get it checked before it becomes more serious.

Found the tranny problem. Glad it was not serious.
The front U joint was going. It was really worn out. The rear one has some play too and the hanger bearing is dry and the boot is carcked.
So today I missed work because truck would not start. Charged it up got going and replaced the starter and the two Batteries. They were weak. Good thing the truck came with a spare starter. Batteries set me back nearly $400 for good Interstate batteries.
Stopped at Allomatic and had them do a test drive and they found the trans in good shape. They suspected the clutch springs or the a u joint was causing the the clunk and grind when clutching.
I knew the rear joint was starting to show wear. So got back home to change it and saw the front one was ready to break apart.
So removed it tonight and replaced it. It put up a hard fight . Had to hoof it across the road to a neighbor to help get the joint apart. It just would not budge.
Now back together and no more grind at clutching.
With holidays coming I will get two u joints and a hanger bearing and replace them on my holidays. Now everything is loosen up.
By the way. Anyone know what size of Torx socket is needed for the rear u joint bolts. I think it maybe 5.5 mm I need to buy one to remove them.
