a perfect auto steering column and 5 slot rims

what would a perfect factory auto steering column be worth. zero damage and as tight as the day it was manufactured. i do have the perfect black wheel thats on it too. it is in a rust free 23k mile truck that im stripping for a off road play toy and already have added a 4 speed manual trans. i would hate to lop off the shifter with a saws all if these things are worth a few bucks. i have a few other ratty columns i could swap it out for. i will ask the wife to grab a pic when she gets in.

i have 4 factory 5 slot 5 lug mags with 3 matching and 1 odd ball center cap 1 rim has 1 mark were it rubbed the rail on my roll back but should just about clean out. i have already scrapped the rest of the truck the only thing i kept was the wheels and center caps.

50 to 75 for the column and and 100 for the rims...I am guessing high to make you feel better cause........ Really I think they would look alot better in the classifieds ares of FTE and not in here. IMO

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...79-trucks.html

Here is a bit of reading for you, now don't get all feelings hurt on me for pointing out the obvious, that I have read and try to adhere to as the moderators ask.

At least laugh as this is in good nature and I did guesstimate your prices for you.

they are not for sale i was just wondering if they were worth saving. for that kind of money there not worth saving.
it kind of sucks in my line of work i crush at least 1 of these trucks a month and several other classic cars. the 1 in the pic was a 82k mile 1 owner running and driving truck i had crushed after pulling the rims and putting them in the scrap pile. i cant keep everything unless some one wants to donate a large warehouse for storage.

if you crushed an 82k mile running driving truck, then you threw away $2500 to $6000 in these parts.

i realize you can't keep everything, but i could have given you the number of 2 or 3 guys that would have paid you at least a grand AND drove out to pick it up.

about 3 months ago my neighbor bought a bumpside 1/3 that nice for 900 bucks and drove 6 hours to go get it. Sold it a week later for 2500.

I was going to post the listing, but a local car lot around here had a nice dentside for sale and were asking 6900. i'd say it was in the same shape as the truck in your picture.

you should look outside your own local market before crushing a super clean truck like that, maybe post them up FS on the classifieds section for a while before destroying them. .... just my opinion.

i have a 25k mile 4x4 250 clean as a whistle rust wise but has a flat bed and was a farm truck that i drove out of the crush pile at the scrap yard id sell for a grand but the problem is even though i drive it and use it as a yard truck everyone wants to offer me $500 even though i paid $632.50 to drag it home. every time i pay one of my guys to strip a old car or truck i end up loosing money and i cant stay in business long doing that.

used cars suck here i drove a chevy calarado with 2800 miles yes two thousand eight hundred miles. with minor front end dammage around the yard throwing pipe ect in it to drag home for a project so my truck didnt get a flat tire when i was done with it i parked it next to the crain and they grabbed it with the claw and tossed it in the pile. they paid $370 for it and i could have drove it home for $370 but i cant save everything.

Maybe thats how it in in Ky, but I think if you had a little bit more time 9i know you are running a business) or the correct help on these old Fords you could make more than a 500 offer, at least it sounds like that to me?

Sorry you only get a 500 offer in Ky, but put them on the FTE classifieds and see how it goes, especially if it a "as is where is deal", and you have the title. Just come get it and pay me X for it.....

Set it aside, snap a pic, post it on FTE and let it ride a week or so, till then crush all the chebby, yota's, dodge's, and any or and all cars except for classic Mustangs, cause that sacrilegious, lol.

Roughly where are you in Ky, since I am next door in Missouri???

i will have the wife grab a pic and throw it on the hoist for a under shot and give it a try i really dont care if i make a whole lot of money on the classics i just hate seeing them crushed $632.50 +67.50 for a tow and id be happy to let some one take it. i dont get pleasure out of crushing old muscle unless it ends up in our demo derby then it gets fun.

funny you said yota i had one 1980 barn find run and drives with clean title out of the scrap pile for under 400 bucks my mechanics tranny died in his car and he took the yoda tossed a plate on it and drives the wheels off it.

You must already have a ton of money to say that.

I would be interested in getting a few dozen parts trucks from you, I really just need to quite my overseas job and do "73-79 Used OEM Ford truck parts for sale" full time.........

Ya always have to have a dream.....

I may get into the same thing Rich. IF I get this property and I end up with some room out there. Right now, it's a little tough. I was thinking a Muscle car yard though. Not just the dents and bumps. It doesn't bother me a bit to sit on cars.

Now back to the thread. You are literally throwing away A LOT of money scrapping out trucks that run and drive. As you see here, A classified ad for a week or two won't hurt. You're only making $250/ton and the scrap yard. Why not wait a couple weeks and see if you can make $800 or $1,000 for doing nothing. If it doesn't sell, the only thing you lost was a parking space for a couple weeks.

Yea Alan lets trailer up and head to Kentucky where the Ford trucks are cheaper by the dozen...sounds like anyway.

You get your new house/property and between both our places we can hide a bunch of parts. lol

I know lmc and Dennis Carpenter want $399 for a repro steering wheel, seems like you could put that stuff on ebay and do pretty well with it.

Dennis Carpenter has the center caps available in reproduction-but in just chrome so they'd have to be painted Black to be "correct" on a dentside.

Wow!!!! Hurts me to see/hear that good trucks are being scrapped out!
