looking at larger rims on F350

I worked at American Tire Distributors (ATD) for over 10 years and specifically asked the Wheel Buyer if the aftermarket wheels purchased (almost all brands) were hub-centric or lug-centric... His response was "lug-centric." ATD is the largest wholeseller of tire and wheels in the USA. You can also read the attached link for further verification.
Hub Rings for Aftermarket Wheels
Hub Rings for Aftermarket Wheels
I did have aftermarket wheels only on 1 SUV and it did have hub rings. I believe good fit is important as on all vehicle I own removing wheel is always difficult because of tight fit. Forum members from other states that have corrosion issues are going long ways like using huge sledge hammers or jacks to push the wheel out of corroded hub.
If manufacturer doesn't want the wheel to dance on the hub I would not risk putting wheels that do.
reading the replies on linked forum, that is interesting
being in the tire industry i see tons of nice wheels without hub rings. and the biggest complaint is . vibration. you can balance the tire/wheel combo till the cows come home and the same thing .. vibration.. they do make a difference. funny that you mention 1010 tires.. i used to work for them on the coast when they were volco tires.lmao.....

The article says:
By contrast, most aftermarket wheels (except those specifically designed for a specific model; in which case the centerbore is matched to the vehicle hub size) are made with a centerbore diameter much larger than most vehicle hub diameters. This enables a single aftermarket wheel type to fit a wide variety of cars and models. If such a wheel is mounted on the car, it will only be supported by the lugs (called a lugcentric mounting) giving rise to possible movement between wheel and hub during cornering and acceleration, vibration, and excessive wheel bearing wear, including possible structural failure of the lugs themselves. The problem is made even worse when fitting a wheel of less positve offset than OEM design because it places an additional strain on the wheel bearings and lugs.
