Need help with 7/4 way towing connector
Hi, first post for me here, having a real hard time getting this problem fixed on my 2010 F150 XTR.
I damaged my 7/4 way towing connector during the winter (plastic swing doors broken, bracket on tow bar bent beyond repair). I have been to a few Ford dealers to get the parts and schedule service.
I've been able to order the new plastic 7/4 way connector socket (i believe it is part # 9L3Z15A416A) which comes with a short wiring section to plug into the existing wire harness under the truck, so this part is solved.
The bigger problem is getting the rectangular metal bracket that holds the socket to the tow bar (it looks like it is spot welded on). The dealer is telling me that they do not have this part available, as it only comes attached on the tow bar assembly which Ford does not make, they get it in bulk from Reese....i do not want to buy a whole new tow bar.
So i called Reese, and they say this is not true, they do not supply tow bars to Ford as OEM....
Which brings me back to my problem, where can i get the orignal bracket to hold the towing connector to the tow bar? Some aftermarket places tell me to just install a single 7way connector and they have single brackets that screw/bolt onto the tow bar available. I dont like this really, i want to put an original socket back onto truck with an orignal bracket....i'm sure i am not the first to have to do such a repair.
Help...

Sounds like replace tow bar or fabricate your own out of alum. stock. Leave a tab so you can rivet or bolt it to the bar. Contact parts guy Ed here he may be able to help you out. He is popular on the 7.3 forum

Here you go, Not OEM but should work.
Replacement Multi-Tow 7-Way and 4-Way Trailer Connectors for Ford, GM Trucks with Factory 7 Way Hopkins Accessories and Parts 30955
Or for just a bracket maybe one of these would fit ??

This looks very similar to what's on my 2012 F150.

and mount it in one of these:
6 and 7-Way Trailer Connector Mounting Box, 2-1/2" Draw-Tite Accessories and Parts 18156
i've got one of these on my explorer and they are really nice, durable too. i've hit mine on steep inslopes while backing up (turning around on logging roads while hunting) with no harm.
if you use the OEM bracket, you'll probably just break it again, IMO.
that's what i'd do ....
if you are still around.
